Two bus tickets from city A to B and three tickets from city A to C cost Rs. 77 but three tickets from city A to B and two tickets from city A to C cost Rs. 73. What are the fares for cities B and C from A ?

Let Rs. x be the fare of city B from city A and Rs. y be the fare of city C from city A.

Then, 2x + 3y = 77 ...(i) and

3x + 2y = 73 ...(ii)

Multiplying (i) by 3 and (ii) by 2 and subtracting, we get: 5y = 85 or y = 17.

Putting y = 17 in (i), we get: x = 13.

A and B are brothers. C and D are sisters. A's son is D's brother.

How is B related to C?

Clearly, b is the brother of A; A's son is D's brother. This means D is the daughter of A . Since C and D are sister, C is also the daughter of A.

So, B is the uncle of C.

Hence, the answer is( d).

In alphabet series, some alphabets are missing which are given in that order as one of the alternatives below it. Choose the correct alternative.

abca _ bcaab _ aa _ caa _ c

The series is a / bcaa / bcaa / bcaa / bcaa / bc. Thus, the pattern bcaa is repeated.

A family consists of six member's P, Q, R, S, T and U. There are two married couples. Q is a doctor and the father of T. U is grandfather of R and is a contractor. S is grandmother of T and is a housewife. There is one doctor, one contractor, one nurse, one housewife and two students in the family. What is the profession of P?

Q, the doctor,is the father of T. S, the housewife, is the grandmother of T and hence the mother of W. Since there are only two married couples one being that of Q, the grandfather of R i.e. U must be married of S. Thus, R and T will be both children of Q and these must be the students. So, P, who remains, shall be the wife of Q and she alone can be the nurse. Thus, U must be the contractor. P is the nurse..

In following alphabet series , one term missing as shown by question mark . Choose missing term from options.

Total age of students = 22x20=440

Total age of all students + age of teacher =21x22=462

Age of teacher= 462-440=22 years.

An equilateral triangle is surrounded by three squares, as shown. What is the value of x?

We have labeled the diagram to help explain this answer. PR = RS because they are sides of a square, and RS = RT because they are sides of an equilateral triangle. RQ = RT because they are also sides of a square. Therefore RQ = PR. And because RQ and PR are sides of an isosceles triangle, angle RPQ = angle RQP. Right now remember that angles of a triangle totaled equals 180°. And angles of a square are all 90° and angles of an equilateral triangle are all 60°. Following? Good. So all the angles at point R must equal 360°. So… Angle PRQ = 360 – (90 + 90 + 60) = 120. Therefore x = (360 – 120) / 2 = 30.

Choose or find odd letter group

VT , MQ , PR , DF , FG

Putting A = 1, B = 2, ....... and so on, we have:

VT = V + T = 22 + 20 = 42 (even);

MQ = M + Q = 13 + 17 = 30 (even);

PR = P + R = 16 + 18 =34 (even);

DF = D + F = 4 + 6 = 10 (even);

FG = F + G = 6 + 7 = 13 (odd).
